Stories to be read out loud by Bill Peters May 17, 2012 $0.99 17563 words Sample 15%
Author bio:
Bill Peters lives in Somerset with his wife Janice and his Border Collie, Tara. He has used words to make a living for much of his adult life by giving lectures and talks in such diverse places as The USA, The Far East, Europe and, of course, in his homeland, the United Kingdom. He likes nothing more than to put pen to paper and to create different worlds for the reader to retreat into - no matter how brief their visit may be. He enjoys roaming the highways and byeways of Exmoor and he is a keen longbow archer - hence the story, "I wonder if it will change anything" in his book of short stories "Stories to be read out loud". He is a qualified archery coach and spends quite a lot of time ensuring that (fairly) small children (and some adults) focus on what they should be doing and not on doing silly things with the lethal weapon called the bow and arrow. Do, please, visit www.fairhavenbooks.com for more work by Bill, and other, authors.

AUP also accepted for publishing a series of chemistry text-books he wrote, Understanding Chemistry : a student's book and a teachers' guide for each year, Nine to Eleven, but `due to the political situation and financial constraints' they have never been printed. He is currently working on the last of a series of books. The first, Trailblazer, a novel based on the lives of his great grandparents, has been published in 2008 by Zeus Publications. The second, another novel, Real Life Portrait , based on the lives of his parents was published as a hard-back in October 2010 by Big Sky Publishing, and the third, Well of Life, is a memoir up to age 18, ready to go to a publisher. The fourth, Free Radical, another memoir up to age 36, he has self published. All of these works are now available as ebooks. Now living quietly in retirement he is working on the final memoir, Odyssey, age 37 up to the present. Besides writing, reading and listening to chamber music, being a long-term Marxist and socialist, he is interested in TV documentaries and current affairs and regrets that he is too old to participate in the Australian extension of the Arab Spring, hastening the end of capitalism.
Seven Leaf Clover - 7 Fantasy Short Stories by M. R. Mathias May 13, 2012 $2.99 51807 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
The jewel you see glowing in the ring in my author photo isn't really a jewel at all. It is the crystallized tear of a real dragon. In my novel "The Royal Dragoneers" you might find the moment where this wonderfully magical tear drop fell from a green dragon's eye. It hardened on its way down to land in a mess of troll corpses that the dragon was laying on. My grandfather died before I was born, but the ring was given to me by my mother after my grandmother recently died. My grandfather had apparently won the ring in a poker game near the Red River between Texas and Oklahoma sometime in the early 1900's. It has been a boon to me, the magic of the teardrop, for it brought you here didn't it? Now treat yourself to something fantastic and try out the free sample of one of my novels. I hope you enjoy the journey. It will be spectacular. Thanks M.R. Blake’s most popular character, irrepressible adventurer Chuck Cave, has appeared in over two dozen stories, including the 2005 Man’s Story 2 Story of the Year Award winner “Chuck Cave and the Vanishing Vixen.” The character’s supernatural thriller stories (which began with the seminal “Cave and the Vamp”) are all being released as a part of Vampires2.com’s initial foray into e-books. Destinies by Julian Miles May 13, 2012 $5.00 47757 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
I've been living in the southern UK for nearly fifty years, although I have to admit that I've only really learned from many of the lessons that life has handed me in the last five. I've worked everywhere from the loading bay to the boardroom. I've walked home for miles in the rain and have driven at a quarter of the speed of sound. I've bled for a cause and fled from violence by choice. I've loved as if there was no tomorrow and wept inconsolable only to find that you have to carry on anyway. I strive to be gentleman in a world of the gauche and the immediately gratified. An unashamed atavist, eclectic path pagan and rocker. In my early teens I discovered Elvis, Gene Vincent and many rock 'n' roll greats. From there I progressed to heavy metal and rock music, and that's where I found my home. Although my mother still considers it a phase, the music has given me haven and joy ever since I discovered it. I come from a religious background and that led me to explore my own faith. Paganism found me and there, like rock 'n' roll, I found a home. I have had my idiot moments, offset by moments where I have actually done good for no better reason than I was the one who could. I have been fortunate enough to live a life that has allowed me to visit every continent on this planet, albeit briefly in each case. So many cultures, so much history. They all left their mark. I am a storyteller, writer & poet. As I write this I have just published my first book. I hope to be around long enough to complete the many more that are in various stages of completion, creation or being transferred from memory to paper. Regardless of my foibles, I sincerely hope you find something in my work that does it for you, or at the least gives you a bright moment.

These Old Tales - The Complete Collection by Kenneth W. Cain May 13, 2012 $3.49 79037 words Sample 10%
Author bio:
Author Kenneth W. Cain learned about the art of storytelling at a very young age. He would listen as his grandfather told tales late at night beside a rusty barrel fire in the midwest. Darkness, fear, mystery, and a bit of the unknown were some of the elements that the old man would weave into his stories. Although many years have passed and he is now far away from that barrel fire in Illinois, Kenneth's stories still carry the ingredients his grandfather had unwittingly taught him. His passion for the darker elements comes from maybe one too many nights working the graveyard shift. Or it could have been the books he read, the late night choices on the television or his bad dreams. Whatever the reason, he has embraced it and hopes very much to be able to give you a chill or make you think twice about locking your front door. Kenneth has pursued writing and art his entire life. After graduating college, Kenneth spent 20 years in the graphic design industry, yet he never stopped writing, as it was his true passion. In 2007, the opportunity presented itself to write full time and Kenneth has never looked back since. Kenneth resides with his wife and two children in Pennsylvania.

With Five You Get Fortune Cookies by H. S. Stone May 11, 2012 $0.99 11955 words Sample 20%
Author bio:
Even before he could read, H.S. Stone wanted to write a book. Fascinated by the stories that seemed to leap from his kindergarten teacher's books, he went home and wrote his own book, with illustrations and bound by staples. Of course, since he didn't know how to read or write yet, the book was full of gibberish. Undaunted, H.S. eventually mastered the ABC's and continued to write throughout his grade school years, adolescence, and into adulthood. Despite getting a degree and working in a field not related to writing, he continued to pursue his writing passion. "Numbers Plus Four", a collection of five short stories, was H.S. Stone's first publication. He followed that with his first novel, "George and the Galactic Games." H.S. Stone is now hard at work on his second novel.

I believe in head fakes, the crossover step and going the other way. Also, if you’re not half-cynical, you’re missing the news. I think that as soon as you say you’re going to die young and leave a beautiful corpse, it’s too late. But also, what the hell do you think anyone is going to do with that beautiful corpse? Remember the women who threw themselves into volcanoes when Valentino died? They’d never met the star and wouldn’t have liked him if they had. I believe the idiots have been running things long enough. On the other hand, it’s the smart guys who will do us in. If anything is going to save our collective butt, it will come out of nowhere. I only say that because the stuff we already know about doesn’t look that promising. I think there has never been a politician who uttered the word freedom and actually meant it. I believe in dark chocolate, black coffee and straight whiskey. Also, long running catches and short love affairs. I follow Johnny Cash, Etta James, Al Green, Joe Ely, Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell, Curtis Mayfield and Roy Zimmerman. I maintain that Reacher would be dead before he ever saw Parker coming. I can see Mel Gibson as a kind of Parker, but no way Tom Cruise can ever be Reacher. I think Luc Besson knows how to make exciting movies, but Quentin Tarantino is a second-rate hack disguising himself as a first-rate hack. If you haven’t figured it out by now, I was born in Brooklyn but live in Northern California, root for the Giants and don’t care who knows it. My name is Afobos, and I'm originally from Greece. My family immigrated to the states in the late 60's and I've lived here since. I've always loved writing and have written quite a few things mostly for my own pleasure, and I just now started looking into publishing my work. I started by publishing a small anthology of some of my poems or stories here at Amazon, as well as a sci-fi novel that is the first in a series. The second part was just released. Right now I'm working on the third part. I'm a massage therapist and have been practising for the past 17 years and one day I'll get it right! 8) I live 30 minutes south of Houston in League City TX with my 3 indoor cats and outside I have possums racoons and lots of squirrels for company. I enjoy kayaking, (Lots of places for that around here. It's known as the Bayou city...) riding sport bikes, the occasional windsurfing, and never ending battle of the bulge and trying to get in shape. I used to be a bodybuilder back in the 80's and it kind of fizzled from there...8) I have worked in a lot of different fields ranging from pizza delivery driver to cook, to teaching English as a foreign language, teaching Greek, Interpeter, selling ladie's shoes, private security, bodyguard, delivery driver, etc.... Something about working for someone else though has never agreed with me. I guess you can't fire yourself, that why I like to work for myself. 8) I speak fluent Greek, a bit of Spanish which I learned from ex wife's family, a little German, and you can catch my accent when I mispronounce words like sheets and sheep.... I'll let you guess what sheet sounds like when I pronounce it...8) In my line of work (massage therapy) I've learned to replace sheets with linens. Cuts down on stunned looks. 8) I also dabble in the arts...Martial that is.

Author bio:
I’ve been an avid reader of fiction since I learned there was more out there than the books that were assigned in school. I love to be taken away from reality and shuttled into the future or dropped into the middle of a contemporary adventure, murder mystery and of course a romance. Story telling has always been in my blood and my head, but it wasn’t until later in life that I started putting those stories on paper. I love our world and the time we live in, even with all the problems, which explains why I normally write contemporary romantic suspense. Recently I stepped out of my box and tried my hand at a futuristic romantic suspense. I must admit that trying something so new was exciting, now we’ll just have to see if any thing comes of it. I’m a Texan from the top of my head to my feet, but you’ll seldom see me in a cowboy hat or boots. I attended the University of Houston earning a BA in Computer Information System. From there I went to work for a NASA contractor and spent several enjoyable years helping install and test software in the control center. After leaving that position I ventured into the world of contracting, which was exhausting, before landing a job at Enron. I’m sure you know how that ended, so I won’t bore you with the details. Don’t feel sorry for me though, after Enron left me, I took a job that allowed me to spend more time with my family and concentrate more on my writing. I live in the same town I grew up in with my husband, two boys and two dogs. When I’m not being housekeeper, chauffer, chef, plumber or wife you’ll find me with my laptop typing away and ignoring the mayhem that seems to constantly surround me.
