| Author bio: In addition to being a writer, Aglaia Bouma (1970) is an entrepreneur, lover of cats, wine, cooking, drinks at the beach and her husband of course. Her Dutch novel ‘De dwaling’ was reviewed positively and her short stories often win in contests. The Dutch version of ‘Self-portrait’ was published in a literary journal. When writing, she tries to describe the characters roaming her fantasy in a way that the resulting story keeps hanging around in the head of the reader for a while. Because you, dear reader, is what it’s all about! |

Dismantle | by Michael McDonald May 15, 2012 | Free! | 2654 words | Read a sample |
| Author bio: Writer, reader, ranter; The Mike likes an eclectic range of things, but not bananas. He started writing stories before he could write by hand, sticking printed words together to form the sentences in his first days of school, then bothering the teacher to print off more so he could complete his epic. Things have come full circle, as due to injury he finds himself again unable to write by hand, but thanks to the magic box on his desk his prose continues to flow. Being a grumpy misanthropist with a cane leads to a particularly disillusioned undercurrent in his writing, but it's not all doom and gloom. Sometimes he lets most of the characters live. Though sometimes they'll wish they didn't. |

| Author bio: Saul spent his formative years in a creaky century-old house overlooking the Erie Canal in Upstate New York. His bedroom was a refurbished attic, which he shared with all manner of creatures, not all, he is convinced, flesh and blood. After bouncing around the US and Europe, he settled down to pursue a career in the sciences, opting to study the mysteries of human molecular genetics. But even positions as an experimental biologist, teacher, manager and biotech entrepreneur could keep him from his true love: literature. eFiction magazine calls Saul a writer armed with "a PhD and a whacked out sense of humor." He now writes speculative fiction full time from his attic-less home in the San Francisco Bay Area, which he shares with his wife, kids, four dogs, three cats, six chickens and the occasional possum. |

The Sad Day | by Tim Girard May 11, 2012 | $0.99 | 5484 words | Sample 5% |
| Author bio: I grew up in California. Out of high school I joined the Army, traveled the world, and returned to California to try raising my family. Perhaps it is my restlessness. Perhaps my curiosity. I tinker. I consider. I write. I write like mad until my fingers bleed! Then I write some more. I do not seclude myself to one genre, one style. I am always looking for new influences. I have written songs, poetry (who hasn't?), kid's books (unpublished for now) articles (entirely too many!), and scripts (animation and moving into live action). I enjoy the old tales reworked in today's magic. I have studied the art of storytelling. The sound of breath. The feel of metal. The taste of copper. I want you to remember it all. Feel it all. Hear it all. Be a part of it all. This is what a good story is all about. Hopefully, as a storyteller, I am able to bring you along. To joy and sorrow. Terror and triumph. Nations rising and spirits crumbling. Come along, my friend. The story is about to begin! |

Hello Bitches! | by Kristina Bravo May 10, 2012 | $2.99 | 20094 words | Sample 20% |
| Author bio: Kristina Bravo, A.K.A. Georgina Vogue, is a spontaneous, wildly creative and unexpectedly introverted artist. She is the proud mother of one fast-growing little girl named Mi Antoinette. Formerly a rebel, free spirit, fearless and shameless teenager, Georgina managed to record her most outrageous deeds and escapades that sent her mother running off to the principal’s office or stay up till she gets home no matter how late. Obsessed with fashion, she chose the pseudonym Georgina, after the model Georgina Wilson and Vogue for the internationally celebrated fashion magazine. She has written fashion articles as well as celebrity gossip online. She is in love with having fabulous conversations over cake and latte, and likes to hang out in coffee shops with her best friend. No, she does not smoke in front of her daughter, at her side, and not even from behind. Despite all those nasty rumors that cloud up like a room filled with cigarette smoke, Georgina Vogue pursued her dream to be a published writer. At Rhetorical Ratatouille, she is given a chance to get her ideas to materialize in the form of a book which consists of entries that would probably shock her family, just by seeing the title alone. Nevertheless, it’s not a reason to back out. “What I have written, I have written,†as Pontius Pilate states. What fascinated her at all times, besides her own scandalous life, were the outrageous things happening in the lives of her college friends. Inspired with glamour, scandal, secrets, tragedies, and adventure, she began to write diary entries in the form of letters to her equally happy-go-lucky and liberated friends. She does not justify her mistakes in the past. Her purpose for the coming out of these provocative, yet experience-filled stories is not to push young people or older ones to succumb to revelry and be immersed in the mere beauties that the world has to offer. Instead, she shares her learning from one mistake to another, because she always had to learn the hard way. And because of those events in her life, she realized the beauty of living: to wake up each day and be thankful for the daughter who motivates her to do great things. |
