From there my life made a few other twists before I ended up here in Louis Trichardt. I love poetry and writing and this, my first "farm novel", is now available with the name "Gees van die Labrador”, meaning Spirit of the Labrador". I was born and raised in Fayetteville, Arkansas, in 1957. I have loved reading ever since the alphabet letters in Dick and Jane suddenly became words. I do not have a college degree, but it’s never been difficult to create a laudatory speech or article when I was emotionally attached to the subject, or to dash off a caustic harangue when I was really angry. In 1978, a dear friend committed suicide. From that loss, a wish began, which grew into an idea in 2002. In April 2010, my husband became insistent that I try my hand at writing the novel that had been rolling around in my brain for eight years. The storyline had become a topic of conversation anytime we made an out-of-town trip. During that summer, I had the experience of typing as fast as I could while the story “wrote itself.” The characters talked to me day and night. I loved the writing, but did wonder sometimes if I was losing my marbles, especially as I rode the emotional wave over the conflicts and heartaches the characters endured. Broken Road is the title of my first publication. I had never intended to pen a sequel, but the leading characters had other plans, badgering me with so much information that it was either put it into print or go nuts. Full Circle is currently undergoing revisions. Calling myself an author puts me way outside my comfort zone. I don’t have a college degree--not even close--but slowly, I’m becoming more at ease. At this point, I can’t remember what life was like when I wasn’t writing.

Mike lives with his family in a suburb of Cincinnati, OH. Born and raised just south of Cincinnati in Erlanger, KY, Mike attended St. Henry High School where he entertained the idea of one day being a writer. Later Mike attended Northern Kentucky University where he initially majored in Journalism and wrote for the school newspaper, The Northerner. He later played with several worship bands in the Cincinnati area. Eventually he realized his life was too busy to continue with performing music and eventually sought another creative outlet that required less time away from home. Family life brought Mike one step closer to writing once more in a rather unexpected way. Mike loved telling his daughters stories at bed-time. A family tradition was born as his daughters asked him to make up stories spontaneously which yielded a few classics which his now teen-aged daughters still recall with amazing clarity. His family began to urge Mike to write down his stories which indeed rekindled Mike's writing. Soon he realized he had a number of ideas for a novel, although not necessarily for children. In 2007 Mike wrote his first novel. He spent 6 months writing the book, another 6 months revising it, 1 year working with an editor and another 6 months rewriting yet again. Eventually he decided he was not happy with the final result and set upon writing something entirely different. This first novel, however, helped Mike understand the process better and helped him develop a more creative and efficient process of writing. In 2010 Mike began "Of Honor and Deceit" and published the book online in March of 2011. The book is a psychological thriller with a military backdrop. Deep in the story-line are a number of layers of ethical difficulties that challenge the reader with their own belief systems. "This is not me trying to push an agenda, or trying to tell anyone what they should believe or how they should act when faced with these kinds of tough decisions, but I just want them to make up their own minds and try to think through their own beliefs." Mike hopes to pursue publication with a traditional publishing house in the near future. He is also currently half-way finished with his next novel.

I was one of those kids always noodling with words, writing nonsense stories and animal adventures. I got a serious case of the word flu when I was asked to write an article for my high school newspaper. It is a disease from which I have yet to recover. In the intervening years, my work has appeared in daily newspapers, monthly magazines, extensively on radio -- and the occasional dalliance with television. I have written advertising copy and radio commercials. There is a bucket filled with awards sitting in my garage and I continue to write, write, write. Also featuring my byline are: a collection of short stories called "Forever -- and other stories," the novels "The Life Line" about the earthquake that levels San Francisco and "News on the Home Front" about two friends during World War Two, and the children's book "Mama Cat." Also, several short plays, a few radio plays and a boat load of radio documentaries. I am currently working on a novel of Paris in the 1920s and collaborating on an encyclopaedia of melamine plastic.

Richarh L. Tyson “AKA” Daddy Rich is an underground Gangsta Rapper from Marion, Indiana. In 1999 he was arrested for 6 counts of dealing cocaine. After posting a $100,000 bond he was released. After his release he recorded "Out on Bail" which became a local hood classic. Daddy Rich turned himself in August 22nd, 2000 to begin serving a 6 year sentence in the Indiana Department of Correction. His album sold while he was incarcerated. In late 2002, due to time cuts and "good behavior" he was released. In order to help fund his dreams of becoming a rap star Daddy Rich became a licensed Realtor and continued to sell cocaine. In late 2003, Daddy Rich caught felony criminal confinement, battery, and intimidation charges for holding the local task force's confidential informant captive. He was caught in the act and arrested. After posting another $100,000 bond in April of 2004, Daddy Rich went straight to work recording new materials and negotiated a distribution deal with P.G.E out of West Palm Beach Florida to handle the distribution of his music in the U.S., Canada, and Japan. In early 2005 Daddy Rich released Daddy Rich vols. l and 2 statewide while awaiting the release of his untitled nationwide debut in October of 2005. Sadly Daddy Rich never saw the nationwide release of his album because on August 18th 2005 he was set up by the drug task force. He was arrested and held without bail. An unfortunate turn of events led to Daddy Rich being compelled to represent himself at trial. Daddy Rich was convicted of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver and was sentenced to 30 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections. Daddy Rich currently resides in the Correctional Industrial Facility in Pendleton, Indiana. Unable to perform lyrically, Daddy Rich has turned to writing his own brand of Urban Fiction called “Gangsta-lit” in 2008. “This is Urban Fiction in it’s rawest form.” Daddy Rich is determined to make an impact on the Urban Fiction world with his debut release, Mack’s Revenge. I grew up in a small town in the Freestate, South Africa. I was an above average student. At times I was a bit of a rebel, but what teenager wasn’t? I moved to Cape Town when I finished High School in the hopes that I would become someone important. I managed to find a job as a Telemarketer selling Funeral plans. Things didn’t get much better after that. I worked for dozens of companies after that as their Receptionist. I went back to Call Centre life but as a customer service agent. It didn’t work out well because I just felt like a punching bag. One night I was sitting on my balcony overlooking a very busy road. I saw ten maybe twenty ambulances and police cars rushing to an accident, all of a sudden I imagined what it would be like being in that ambulance on my way to safe a life, on my way to possibly make a difference. Two weeks later I enrolled and became a qualified Paramedic. After months of studying and passing with a Cum Lade, I couldn’t find a job as a Paramedic. No ambulance service wanted me, not even for free as a volunteer. I started suffering from bad insomnia and slept if lucky two hours a night. One night I picked up my laptop and started writing. Sentences became paragraphs and so it went on till I had a completed manuscript. I wrote three manuscripts in total but I constantly read and rewrite them. My manuscripts are fiction and mostly fantasy. I am obsessed with Hollywood, actors and New York City even though I have never been there. I would love for my work to be published. I always felt I was born for greatness and I still believe it. I enjoyed writing if only as an escape but I feel the stories I wrote are entertaining enough to share.
