Mary Creased Moose

The animals bantered,

"Christmas is here!"

as they all gathered round

to share some good cheer.

The raccoon raccooning

as only he could,

was sipping on egg nog,

at the edge of the wood.

He was joined by a squirrel,

and squirrely was he -

he brought down some chestnuts

he found in a tree.

Here came a hedgehog,

more hog than hedge,

who brought jinglebells

he had found on a ledge.

The deer also came,

a buck and a doe,

With both of their fawns

closely in tow.

All became scared:

"The Grizzly Bear's coming!"

But we're soon put at ease

When they saw he was drumming.

Apparently caught up

in Christmas well wishes,

the bear brought his drum set,

his cymbals were dishes.

As bear played the drums,

with racoon raccooning,

they all saw a moose

who appeared to be swooning.

Apparently hit,

perhaps by a boulder,

the animals noticed

a bump near her shoulder.

"Are you OK?

Would you care for some nog?"

cried out the badger,

as he sat on a log.

"Nog would be great!

I fear I've no luck,

while coming to meet you

I was hit by a truck!",

said the moose, who was limping,

but still seemed OK,

The animals said,

"Won't you join us this day?"

Her name was Mary,

Mary the Moose,

Some egg nog was brought her

by Gary the Goose.

All were so joyful,

Friendships were struck,

and Mary forgot

all about the big truck.

Until she looked down,

And noticed a crease,

that wouldn't be seen

were she covered in fleece.

But since her moose fur

was only so long,

The crease was apparent,

quite noticably strong.
