Mary looked at the stars that shone from the north. They looked so nice that she wanted to dream on them. They sparkled with an eerie light that made her want to cheer for them to be brought down from heaven and put on her sill. Mary glared at the sky as she prayed. She prayed for the stars to be brought down to her, and she quivered as she thought that they might be getting closer.

“Mary take to your bed;” told Joseph as he glared at Mary's body hunched over the window.

Mary turned around to see Joseph, and thought he looked ugly. She knew that he was typical male, however there was something in his stare which put a dagger to her breath. Sure he was young and rather fit, however there was something else which almost made her want to feel scared. She found it hard to grow fond of him. He was a man without compassion. He doted on her like a mother, and then left her feeling cold. He was stern when she needed him to be soft. He was secretive when she needed him to be telling.

“Don't look at me like that...” muttered Mary as she shrivelled.

“Like what?” asked Joseph as he glared.

“Like a stranger;” told Mary as her voice grew tight.

“We live together we cannot be strangers to naught but our souls;” told Joseph.
