CPS

Knock, knock. Who's there?
Your family's night-mare.
Don't open it, don't let them in,
or the pain may never end.
Children ripped from your arms,
torn from the beds they're nestled in.
Mommy why, Daddy no.
Please don't make me go.
While down the lane
still on it will go.
Some will starve, some will die from abuse.
Others hide the pain
from innocence torn away.
Where were you then?
I do not know.
Shattered lives, names changed
good memories forgotten.
And still you smile when you
look in the mirror.
Stealer of dreams, purveyor of lies
crusher of the very lives
you swore to protect.

Thy name is CPS.

Me

You can dislike me.
You can stereotype me.
Love me, hate me, ignore me, judge me.
But I am me.
Ever changing, always growing.
Maybe not who I thought I was going to be.
Maybe not who I want to be.
Maybe not who you think I should be.
Not who I was yesterday.
But for today-that’s okay.
Tomorrow who knows?
I am me.
And that’s who I’m going to be.

Kisses in the Wind

Did you feel the wind brush across your cheek?
That was the kiss I blew to you
from miles away.
Will you press it your cheek or
will you turn away?
I've loved you since you were you,
but does your love for me remain?
Forgiveness can be hard I know,
but I take responsibility for the mistakes I made
and can only hope that others do the same.
Did you feel the wind brush across your cheek?
That will be my kiss to you
and will be every day until again we meet.

Swept Away

Sweep it under the rug.

Couldn't happen- not that one.

Look blindly away,

and in the end-

who did you save?

Not her.

Whose innocence was taken.

Was it you?

Was it worth it?

No nagging doubts?

Remove your rose colored glasses

and look in the mirror.

Can you face it-the fear?

That you were wrong-

could have stopped it?

I hope she's more forgiving

than me.

The price you pay

when you

choose not to see.

My Tears Haven’t Dried

I gave you life-

held you

when first you cried.

Now- are your tears gone?

Mine haven't dried.

I wanted to protect you,

shield you

from the bad things.

I failed you

and now am alone-

without you.

No longer to hold you

when you cry.

My tears aren't gone-

I fear

they may never dry.

Without You

Days pass, nights alone.

I can't see you-

and it cuts to the bone.

Years gone-

and then you've grown.

Will you still love me?

Will you understand?

Thoughts of you

never far away.

Try to shut them out-

can't deal with the pain.

I've always loved you

and always will.

But will you love me?

Years gone by-

missed seeing you grow.

I never meant to

hurt you, you know.

Didn't want

my pain to show.

Will you forgive

when all is said and done?

Everything lost,

nothing won.

Thought I could never

live without you.

But when the time comes

will I always have to?
