I went to watch a band at a coffee shop with a buddy of mine. We were meeting up with some people he knows from work. When we arrived at the coffee shop I discovered that it wasn’t really a band, but a guy playing guitar and singing. He was pretty good. His co-workers gave us a warm greeting and then we headed to the counter to order our drinks. He got an expresso and I got some fresh-squeezed orange juice in a plastic cup.

After we got our drinks, we sat next to his friends from work. There were three women and one guy, Lori, Susan, Lynn, and Fred. After meeting them, I found that that they were not all his co-workers. Lori, was his co-worker, but the others were just friends. I kept thinking to myself that Lynn had lovely blonde hair. It was sandy blonde and it rested ever so gently on her milky white shoulders. She was wearing a low-neck sweater and blue jeans. We all got acquainted as we watched the singer and drank our drinks. Once the singer had finished, he came over and sat with us. His name was Justin. He was a very outgoing fellow. The girl behind the counter told us that the coffee shop was closing. We all went outside and talked about what to do next. Justin suggested a wine bar down the street that had a good open mic night so we headed down the street.

When we got to the wine bar, we could hear music coming from speakers above the door. We could see a guy through the window playing guitar and singing. We commented that there must be some really good musicians at this open mic to have speakers outside the wine bar. Once inside, music just filled the room. We found a table and sat down. A pretty young lady came and asked what we would like. My buddy had a Curious Cola. The ladies had a glass of wine. I had a beer. We were situated at the table that Lynn just happened to be sitting next to me. Justin still had his guitar with him. He headed over to the stage and began to play after the other guy had finished. I talked to Lynn and we hit it off right away. She likes the same movies that I like. All the while I kept admiring her beautiful sandy-blonde hair. I wanted to touch it. I wanted to feel it in my hands. I wanted to feel it against my face. I began to daydream as I talked to her. I was snapped back to reality when my buddy nudged me and said that he has to work tomorrow. We all finished our drinks and said goodnight. As my buddy drove me back to my car, I kept thinking that I should have gotten Lynn’s phone number. It was eating at me the entire way home.

When I got home, I went to my computer and checked email. I also got on Facebook. I had a friend request. It was from Lynn! She found me through my buddy’s profile. I accepted it. Then I discovered that she was online. I sent her a message thanking her for the friend request. She responded immediately and asked if I’d like to meet her to watch a bluegrass band. I agreed.

The next night I drove to the bar where the bluegrass band was playing. I went inside. Justin was coming out of the bathroom. He remembered me and shook my hand. He said, “Come join us at our table.”

I followed him. There was a group of about five people. Lynn was also sitting at the table. I sat down next to her. Her hair looked just as beautiful as it did the night before. We talked and drank. The band was setting up. It was three young guys. One guy had an electric guitar. One guy had a bass guitar. The third guy was setting up a full drum kit. I said, “This doesn’t look like a bluegrass band to me.”
