Adam's Surprise

Adam glared at the time. It was a little before twelve pm, and it wasn't the end of the world. Adam rolled his eyes as he thought about moving. He had slipped onto the couch and sulked as he had consumed a handful of prescription pills. He felt a little stoned, and he wondered if he could move. He swallowed his worries when he realised that he didn't have to move.
“This after-stardome life sure is swell;” muttered Adam as he glared at the television and saw a blur of colour tones.
Adam smiled, and then he blinked several times before he began to clear his vision up. He felt like going to sleep, however he couldn't help but get the feeling that he might be able to see a vision for spiritual illumination if he stayed.
The doorbell rang. Adam lost his mental concentration, and then he began to move. It was a weird sprawl at first, but after a while he began to move his limbs. He got up off the couch, and then he began to walk. He moved in a haphazard manner, and almost bumped into a wall, then a statue, and then a step. Finally he crashed into the front door before he opened it. Outside he saw dark, it was so spooky he felt as though he were going through a tunnel! Immediately he wanted to close the door, but a sob broke his concentration.
Adam blinked, lowered his vision, and saw the housekeeper Anne. He glared at her hunched over her own tissue, and immediately he crooked his head.
