Author’s Foreword

Thousands of children have gone through their childhood, wondering where exactly the rainbow ends. As far as I understand, nobody has ever found the rainbow’s end or the crock of gold that lies there. I am, however, content to believe that Annie did find her very own crock of gold in her parent’s love, her inquisitive nature, her ability to honestly express her feelings, her vivid imagination, her positive approach to all problems and her unwillingness to give up until she has exhausted all possible options. Annie is a child of love and a child of action. Are you?

Annie’s Rainbow’

It was a beautiful day for playing out. One minute, Annie was playing happily in the garden in the warm sun, making a daisy chain. She had previously caught a green frog and was seeing which of them could jump the highest. Then she decided to make the frog ‘Honorary Mayor’ for the day, so she made the frog a Chain of Office with the help of a daisy chain that she placed round the frog’s neck.

The next minute, a sudden burst of rain forced her to abandon her toys and take shelter inside the house. The frog croaked loudly and jumped into the long grass at the back of the garden as the rain started pouring down. Annie disappeared inside the house. Her face; which had been a smiley one but moments earlier, like the warm weather, had vanished, and in its place Annie now wore the angry look of a squashed tomato.
