Author’s Foreword
The world of every growing child is filled to the brim with mystery and magic. The more imaginative and explorative a child is, the more magical becomes their everyday experiences. It is the very essence of such magical moments that makes their innocence something to be greatly treasured and maintained for as long as humanly possible; for though the world of the grown-up can be very rewarding, it is nevertheless empty of that vital child’s magic that can make it more bearable and endurable during difficult times.

‘Annie and the Magician’
Annie arrived home in excitement, waving a leaflet beneath her mum's face.
"Mum, Mum, Mum! Please can I see ‘The Magnificent Marvo’?" Annie asked.
Mum calmed her down and gently took the leaflet from her hand and read it.
‘Don't miss seeing the one and only ‘Magnificent Marvo’ on Friday, June 10th: Adults Four pounds: Children Two pounds.’
Mum looked at dad, and passing the leaflet to him, said, "I don't know. What do you think of that, dear?"
Dad read the leaflet, thought about it a minute, looked at the leaflet again and eventually said, "Now let's see. Today is Monday, June 6th. I'll make a deal with you Annie. If you can remain ‘as good as good can be’ all through the week, then, on Friday, June 10th, not only can you see the magician, but we'll all go see ‘The Magnificent Marvo’!"
