Author’s Foreword

To fly a kite is to place oneself at the mercy of Nature’s elements. To fly a kite is to touch the heavens and to dream that we ride on the wings of a dove. The art of kite flying is a most soothing and accomplished pastime. It has been practised by the most cultured of societies for thousands of years. To twist and turn in the wind of resistance reveals one’s true ability to both cooperate and compete. To ‘loop the loop’, where one’s kite does a tipple tails and resumes its former untroubled position in the sky, reveals one’s capacity to modify their behaviour wherever required. Often in life, when we need to resolve problems and find emotional stability once more, this will involve doing a ‘tipple tails’ in our focus, our interpretation, our approach or response. This will involve us looking at the problem entirely differently than before or approaching it from a more circuitous route; ‘looping the loop.’ Annie’s determination ‘never to give up’ whenever she faces a problem in life, inevitable leads her to a resolution of it! Are you like Annie?

Annie's Kite’

One windy Saturday morning in autumn, Annie and her dad walked in the park. All of a sudden, Annie pointed her finger towards the sky and yelled out, excitedly, "There, dad! Look! Look up there! Look at that big bird with a funny tail!"

Annie's dad looked up and smilingly replied, "That's no bird, Annie dear; that's a kite."
