Valentine Vampire

The legend of the Valentine's Day Vanishing was alive and well in Kris's little town.

It was a cliche, really, but it predated most of the multitude of legends which made it a cliche. It went like this: Every hundred years, a girl who had just recently come of age would vanish the night before Valentine's Day.

It had happened a hundred years ago, supposedly, and a hundred years before that, and some said a hundred years before that as well, in the town's murky colonial beginnings. No one local put much stock in it, really, and trying to scare someone with the story was more likely to be taken as a joke. The fact was, people disappeared every few years anyway, with or without Valentine's Day. It just wasn't a place that people liked to stick around in.

The entire town had, in fact, packed up and moved a mile up the river at some point in the 1800s. No one remembered why. It could be the disappearances, or something else entirely. The remnants of the old town were still there, if one knew where to look, gradually disintegrating in the woods.

It was still occasionally intriguing to some of the local kids. Particularly now that it was about to be a hundred years since the last vanishing.

Kris was out at the old town now, exploring with her boyfriend. She had been out there before. The local teens liked to go out there to drink, though they tended to get spooked and disperse as night began to fall. She used to go out with them, though she wouldn't drink. Anyway, now that she was officially an adult, she felt that she had grown out of it.

She wasn't entirely sure why she was out here now. It had been Jeff's idea. It was near dusk. Kris looked up, her long, dark hair blowing in a sudden chill wind. She shivered and zipped up her hoodie.

"It's getting dark. Shouldn't we head back?" she asked.

Jeff glanced at her from the edge of a sunken pit filled with fallen leaves. "I'm still looking around, Kris." He turned back to the pit. "Do you know what this was? Someone's basement. It's fallen in and filled with dirt and stuff. There used to be a house here."

"It was all houses." She shoved her hands into the pockets of her jeans and turned to look over the slumping ruins of the old town. "It's getting cold."

She didn't hear anything, but suddenly Jeff was behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist. "I know a way to keep warm."

Oh. So that was why he had brought her out here. The sex thing. She should've known. She didn't want to have sex. She wasn't saving herself, not exactly, but Jeff... just wasn't the right guy.

"I want to go back," she murmured.

He didn't listen. He slid a hand up along her hoodie, cupping her breast through layers of clothing. He squeezed it, making her gasp. She felt his hips press forward, and she could feel that he was already hard and stiff against her ass.

He was being a jerk, but she admitted to herself that it actually kind of felt good. She couldn't deny that, regardless of what might be the smart thing to do, her body was aching to be touched. Her breathing picked up, and she found herself moving back against him, her hips rolling, grinding her ass into that stiffness. He groaned softly, and their movements gradually intensified together.

She saw a flash of movement in the darkening woods in front of them.

"Jeff," she whispered urgently, hoping he'd seen it too.

"Kris," he moaned, and his hands went to the front of her jeans, fumbling for a moment before he popped the button and tugged down the zipper.

She squinted. She didn't see anything now. Jeff's hand pushed into the loosened front of her jeans, then slid down into her panties. She let out a quiet, breathy moan and she felt his fingers slide over her bare folds.

"Kris, baby, you're really wet," he whispered. His hands withdrew, and she heard a zipper slide down behind her.
