It’s been months since the death of Chelsea’s mentor and her and Re travel to Egypt to return the Yava. Though so far things have been quiet. She clings to her love for this Kyphur shifter, fighting by his side against the dark forces of Set.

Re begins worrying that a war is coming. Soon Re’s ex pops in, confirming Re’s worries and they are pushed into a fight against time to stop a Settie army before it can do any damage. But when the smoke clears, Re’s heart will break and he will be forced to make a decision…redemption or revenge.

Chapter One

You shall never be welcomed in Masr again, Re. And that is all your doing.”

I shall die—I am a part of this desert!”

That is not our problem. You betrayed us, so die!”

Re woke with a start just as the darkness began swarming around him like it always did. Chelsea groaned, but didn’t rouse from her sleep. He kissed her head, even as his heart raced and his eyes burnt with the beast inside. He took a deep breath in an attempt at calming down and eased his body from Chelsea’s warmth. There was something in the air he hadn’t noticed before. It was a strange stench that was new to him. Standing at the window, he folded his arms across his chest, pressing his shoulder against the warm glass and stared out over the desert. Its heat was unbearable on a good day, but he closed the window out of habit. He’d at least be able to hear someone breaking the glass if they wished to enter. Then he’d discovered the AC in the suite and had to smile at that. Egypt had come a long way since his time. There was a slight chill in the room, but he didn’t mind.

The wind outside was angry—he could tell from the way the sand lifted off the dunes, swirled in the air before slamming back to earth. Perhaps it was due to his presence. He still didn’t believe he was welcomed in his own home even after he returned something priceless to them. He didn’t sense danger—just unease. He didn’t understand why he was back in Masr. It was completely the worse thing he could possibly do, but the book had to be protected.
