Elastic Band

All Alice ever wanted was to fly high above the mountain tops and through clouds, drinking on rain drops. Alice knew one day her dream would come true. You see, on Alice’s fifth birthday she was told a secret. As she blew out her candles and wished her wish of flight, a whisper made its way through the wind and lay to rest on Alice’s ear.
“Six elastic bands can grant your wish to swim through the air like a little fish. Just one you need, for a flying seed. So find the one Alice, and like a bird, you’ll be gone.”
Ever since, Alice had been collecting every elastic band she could get her hands on. All with her pocket money of course. By the age of 9 she had collected over One million elastic bands.
Walk into Alice’s room and you would find red ones, yellow ones, green ones, pink ones, purple ones and even black ones. She had Fat ones, thin ones and medium sized ones. She made elastic band balls and strung them together to make bows and arrows. She had also taken to dressing up her teddy bears with them. Alice would never quit even if she grew up entirely before she had finished. She would still try every elastic band in the world until she found her magic one. She didn’t know it yet but her search would soon be over.
Alice had just arrived back home from the shops with a freshly sealed bag of elastic bands. She sat on her bed and began putting them on her wrist one by one. She would close her eyes and try will herself into flight. It wasn’t until the fifteenth elastic band did she achieve the seemingly impossible. Alice was sat cross legged on her bed when she began to rise.
Up and up she went like a balloon. Now with her eyes wide open, looking down at her bed below, alight with glee she could not help but exclaim a great big “Yippee!” Alice rose up her legs and stretched out her arms. She gave her new elastic band a kiss then flew out of the window and into the mist.
