Anomalous Roots One: The Earth, and The Beginning
The Earth's temperatures were rising quickly enough that the humans were beginning to notice. No matter; Carnah knew that nothing could be done to prevent it. The general consensus among the great scientific minds of this time was that the increasing levels of CO2 were inducing a greenhouse effect, a very plausible theory, but one that was also unfortunately incorrect.
The main flaw with this theory was that it was conceived from a range of data more narrow in scope than was needed. Too much time was spent thinking of humans as unwittingly having become an internal cause of global warming over the past few centuries when, in reality, it was a deliberate process begun and maintained by an outside source. The increase in the CO2 levels of the atmosphere was actually a byproduct of the increased temperatures, rather than the cause; this fact would sadly never become known to the masses.
Carnah had planned this process since before he created the Earth, and it was advancing flawlessly. He took no pleasure in the suffering of the living creatures on the planet, and regarded the results of his process no differently. The only feeling that he associated with his process was a general aesthetic appreciation; this feeling was, in fact, the closest to human emotion that he ever came, having no innate chemicals to produce the range of feelings that lesser organisms experienced. This lack of distraction allowed for the sort of total concentration needed for the conversion of energy to matter, Carnah's consciousness being the only one to exist in such a unique state.
