Book 1 Horus: The Beginning
In an age when time was being measured,
and arithmetic was being invented,
and there was only one God.....
From a union: a gene was spliced, fused.
Then after generation to generation,
a boy was born from this ancient fabric... into the 21st century.
Horatio Azar was a kind, honest, and empathetic child.
Even though a “nice” soft spoken boy,
he found himself “hanging out” with the cool kids.
But what struck his heart strings the most
were the school misfits, odd balls, “rejects,”
who got picked on and bullied all of the time, and by his crowd.
His caring deep blue eyes and his friendly smile
endeared these outcasts to befriend him…
for they usually gravitated toward him as a protector.
Over those years, he struggled with his identity.
And it wasn’t until a miracle,
that his true super hero self was ultimately revealed.
And that is when our story begins………
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
On a summer class trip overseas to India,
a group of teenagers mull about aimlessly.
Horatio Azar is one of them…..
“What an amazing structure!”
“Yeah, go figure; it’s a tomb for the Pharaoh’s wife.”
“Perfect symmetry!!”
The sky is clear: blue; contrasted by poverty
that exists on the outskirts and surrounds this monumental beauty.
When out of nowhere, a bomb explodes.
The teacher shouts to her students to get back to their bus.
Pandemonium is everywhere,
as the sky turns red; evil is lurking.
“Run! Run!...” “Ah!” As another blast hits.
“What’s going on?” “Terrorists!” “Get out of here!”
When Kaboom!! Bursts of fire, as the sacred Taj crumbles.
All turn in awe to witness the disaster.
Slowly as the smoke clears; out of the rubble
stands a mysterious black crapped vision.
His dark tone echoes, “Bring me the boy!”
All scream, fleeing harem scarem, as Horatio stands mesmerized.
This amorphous thing glides over to Horatio and hovers before him.
“You! You belong to me. Now, come!”
His overpowering voice commands.
At that moment, one of Horatio’s friends grabs his buddy’s arm to escape.
The madman shoots a scarlet dart from his eyes.
It penetrates the other boy’s heart.
He collapses and is stunned instantly, looking dead.
“Noooo!” Horatio bellows and turns in rage...
But the pointy edge of the cape smacks his cheek like a whip
and he spins, becomes dizzy, and faints.
Horatio wakes up in an underground cave.
He’s in an enlarged cage hanging from the ceiling.
Computers, ammunition, guards in the form of zombie slaves are everywhere.
A screen lowers and projects a terrorist’s image.
“Greetings, partner. You and I will control the world.
But first let me tell you why….” Crackled an audio-cast.
This invisible lunatic explains how centuries ago their paths had crossed.
His predecessor was Horatio’s ancestor’s half-brother before Christ’s time.
They were seemingly linked by blood... genetically.
He continues of how Horatio’s great-grandfather
betrayed and killed his patriarchal antecedent mercilessly.
Now, Horatio owes the family, and it is time to pay that long term debt.
For several weeks, Horatio stays a prisoner, treated poorly.
After this time, he’s been noticing a female slave, unlike the others.
One night, late, she stealthily releases him from his cell.
She is a spy and possesses powers of transparency.
When one looks at her, it appears as if gazing at the object behind her.
She is forced to hide Horatio under her camouflaged netting to disappear.
They ride by camel to a safe haven: a tent.
It has powers of a desert mirage and takes the appearance of a tree.
There she tells Horatio the true story of his past…..
Sin, this masked captor, lied about Horatio’s history.
Instead, this madman’s patriarch massacred Horatio’s great-grandfather for gold…
even though... Horatio’s family had ruled the ancient kingdom in peace for decades.
So why pick him? What role does Horatio play in all this morass?
She believes he is the re-incarnated “Horus”:
God of Light, Truth, and Goodness.
How could she tell? She doesn’t know. Just feels it.
At that second, Sin brakes through the barrier
and his grotesque minions with weapons surround the now exposed tent.
“Give up Aziera! I know it’s you!”
As Sin blows the fortress away, the azure sky reveals them both.
Appearing unarmed, he then unleashes a nuclear spear from under a sling.
As he takes direct aim, something erupts in Horatio.
A surge of heat rises from the depths of his soul.
His body glows, and he evokes the immortal name of “HORUS!!!”
Clasping his hands over his head,
Horatio encircles both he and Aziera in a white ball of light.
The propelled nuclear laser deflects off this shield and wipes out a pack of nasty slaves.
Sin appears befuddled and immediately flies away.
Spewing, “I’ll overcome you yet!”
As Horatio lets go his tightly held hands, he stands as the mythical Horus, reincarnated.
Aziera becomes enlightened by his new appearance.
She conjures a water reflection for him to admire his new look.
There he is, a renewed person, the modern day champion for peace.
They hug as best friends, and she discloses how
Sin has been the sole source of chaos and torture,
not only for Horatio’s people, but across the globe.
An epiphany: Horus vows to fight this demon.
As he stares at the plentitude of dazzling stars above,
a promise arises in his heart to resurrect hope in man.
“Let’s see what other powers I have.”
As he tests his clock-like clasp again, the effect just takes him back to his old self.
“Wow! I hope I can bring this super being back when I need to…..”
Aziera remarks confidently,
“Have no fear... in the future, in an emergency,
you can... and you will!”
Book 2 The Return of Sin
Back in the USA, at home, Horatio contemplates his next move…..
He ponders his new skill and wishes to practice.
So he heads outside to an abandoned land fill, behind a mountain.
Driving up, he pretends he has a load of trash to dump.
Hiding behind a large heap of debris,
he closes his eyes and raises his hands overhead.
But… nothing happens. He is confused.
He ponders his dark past
and focuses all of his attention on this demi-God’s form.
For he recalls his online research of the symbol.
The shape of Horus assumed a falcon or an eagle.
With the wings spread and reaching upward, directly above its crown;
he mimics that same shape, as his shadow reflects off the side of a dumpster.
He is afraid of that Sin will overpower him now.
Until a large, fat rat comes departing across.
It leaps out of an empty tube and scurries toward his direction.
Out of fear, his palms clamp down pointing at the intruder.
And a mini-laser beam of light projects out.
Fine in tone and lightening fast, it stuns the poor creature.
We walks over the to the disgusting thing and almost vomits.
It has sores and rabies scarred over its body.
Feeling pity though, he reaches out and touches its course bristled skin.
It awakens, but without the old revealing sickness... which has miraculously vanished.
He gathers it up, pets its healthy pelt, and drives it off to a farm
not far from there, to live, away from the ugly stench.
He realizes that a mechanism of fear
produces this amazing fire bolt by holding firm eagle position.
So, he speculates that the opposite of fear: love… could trigger this impulse too.
Amazed at his discovery, he contemplates these two energy forces,
which belong to a realm of being... beyond flesh and blood.
They fall instead within the inner life: of the heart, mind, and soul.
In this full realization, he decides to embark on a journey,
