Chapter 1

Spotting the Female Bigfoot

The wooded land is completely covered with thick woods for as far as you can see. The low hills quickly give way to a vast swamp, and even it is completely covered with trees and vines.

You can clearly see why no one has tried to live in this water logged area. But there is a form of humans that do live here. They are ancient human species that still cling to life in the so called uninhabited parts of earth. They are called various names depending on the part of the world in which they live: Yetis in the cold mountains, Bigfoot in the mountains of the US western states, and swamp things in the bayou country around Louisiana.

A nearly clear stream flows from a spring deep in the swamp. Birds and animals of all kind drink here. Something large is quietly moving through the brush on the bank of the stream. We see the brush begin to part.

Now we can see parts of a hairy body as it makes its way to the stream. There she is! We’ll call her Inky. She is over six feet tall, perhaps 10 to 12 years of age - and almost entirely covered in sparse hair.

She has an exotic beauty, even by human standards. Her eyes have a greenish cast, but are completely clear.

Her body is lean, except for her breasts which are large for her thin frame, large even for her tall body.

The hair on her head is just a little thicker and a bit longer than her body hair. Her face is mostly clear of hair. Her lips are large and full. Her mouth is wide and fangs can be seen when she moves her lips.

But her large, wide nose detracts from a human beauty. And wow, she sure has big feet! She walks down to the stream and looks around.

Something flutters in the trees.  She tenses. It's just a bird. She looks around again and begins to drink by dipping her hands in the near clear water.

She stands. Her body does indeed have a strange, exotic sensuality. She really does look almost human. Almost.

She wades into the stream and begins to bath herself, ever alert to her surroundings. A small frog swims by. It isn’t fast enough. She grabs it, holds it tight and swishes it trough the water and places it between her teeth.

It squirts a long stream of water as she bites down on it. She gulps it down. She looks around for another frog. Nothing.

She begins to play in the water. She hears something and quickly moves to the bank of the stream. She looks and listens. She freezes.

Chapter 2

Jay the Teacher

We go inside a lecture room at the university. We see a drawing of an early hominid that is projected on a screen in the lecture hall. It is part of a series of eight hominids being projected on the screen. You've probably seen this picture a hundred times.

Jay, a young associate professor is lecturing a class of about 20 students. Jay is a tall, muscular man of about 25 years of age.

JAY

So as we break for the summer, if you remember anything from this class....

(laughs and snickers)

You should know that we have not always been alone.

(dramatic pause)

Essentially all scientists have accepted that there have been many different species of hominids. Most believe that eight or more lived at the same time. Based on fossils that have been found, they probably looked like these eight.

(pointing to the display of eight human-like creatures)

They all lived more than a million years ago.

(changes slides to another species)

But this guy, the Neanderthal, lived up to about 28,000 years ago. They were wide spread in Europe and the Middle East until about that time. It had generally been accepted that they were the last of our relatives.

(another slide to yet another species)

But then they found this little guy - they just found his fossils within the last couple of years.

(studies the drawing)

Initial tests indicated that he lived up to only about 12,000 years ago. The latest finds suggest that he may have lived as recently as 4,000 years ago.

(dramatic stare at the students)

That’s not very long ago!

FEMALE STUDENT

4,000 years is not long ago?

JAY

No! Not in the grand scheme of things.

CARRIE

(a beautiful student holds up a newspaper to the class)

Did any of you see this?

Students strain to see the newspaper. Several students indicate that they saw the article. One student in the back cannot see the newspaper very well.

STUDENT

What is it?

CARRIE

There’s been another report of a sighting of Bigfoot down in the swamps.

JAY

Yeah, I saw the article this morning.

(takes the paper from Carrie)

Thank you Carrie.

(waves the paper showing a drawing of a Bigfoot)

The man that saw the Bigfoot described it to the newspaper artist and he drew this.

STUDENT

People have been saying they’ve seen swamp creatures for years. Do you believe them?

JAY

Well, there have been thousands of reports of Yeti’s in the mountains, Bigfoot in the Northwest, swamp... things in the southern forests.

(pause)

I guess I never believed any of the reports,

(big smile)

but I sure wanted to.

(big smiles from all)

(Jay looks at the newspaper drawing.)

JAY

I would truly love to see one myself.

Jay and Carrie exchange smiling glances.

JAY

And I am becoming a stronger believer now that the latest fossils

(glances up at the drawing being projected)

have been found.

(studies the class)

Yes, I guess I believe that some of these ancient creatures could still exist.

(walks back to his desk)

There are many different species of birds, many species of horses.... donkeys and zebras.... Many species of monkeys and apes.

He studies the class for their reaction. They stare back at him in silence.

Carrie obviously adores him.

Jay looks back at the projections of the eight creatures.

JAY

Maybe we should expect more than one species of humans.

*******

Students pour out of the college building to change classes. We see many different styles of dress, hair arrangements, demeanors and walking gaits. The several races of mankind are seen: Caucasian, African-Americans, Orientals; small statues, tall; slim, fat.

Back in Jay's office we see that Carrie has stayed behind and watches as Jay collects papers from his desk.

CARRIE

I wish you would change your mind.

JAY

(weak smile)

I can’t.

CARRIE

I know.

(forced smile)

I want to go with you.

JAY

Carrie, you know that would not work. I will have to move very quietly.... sit motionless for hours. You would go crazy.

(knowing smile)

And you would talk.

CARRIE

Yeah.

(another forced smile)

Guess that I'd make you go crazy too.

JAY

I love the woods.

CARRIE

But you’ll go crazy because you won’t have me there.

Jay gives her a big smile.

Chapter 3

Searching for Bigfoot

We see Jay loading supplies into his SUV in front of the provisioning store. Two other men, Bill and George, and one woman, Kathy are watching him as they stand beside their SUV. All three seem to be “country folk”.

Bill and George are both of medium build and in their late thirties. Kathy looks to be in her early twenties, very pretty, very friendly.

Jay glances over and sees them staring at him.

JAY

Good morning.

BILL

(walking over)

Yeah. George here was the fisherman that got wrote up in that newspaper last week. He actually saw the Bigfoot.

He’s got Jay’s interest.

JAY

Hi George, I’m Jay Malone, I teach....

BILL

Yeah, we know who you are. We were thinking about getting you to join us.

Kathy steps forward and offers her hand to Jay.

KATHY

I’m Kathy Jones. I’ll pay all the expenses.

Jay nods and shakes her hand and turns back to George.

JAY

You didn’t have a camera, ah when you saw the Bigfoot?

GEORGE

No, I was just fishing.

JAY

What exactly did you see?

Kathy seems to be studying Jay with great interest as he talks. She studies his muscular arms and slim waist. Jay becomes a little embarrassed.

GEORGE

Well, I was not having any luck, so I sat back against a tree and waited for them to start back biting. Guess I went to sleep.

(looks over at Bill, then back to Jay)

I hear a noise and I wake up thinking I may have a bite.

(holds hand up above his head)

Right there in front of me was a Bigfoot! Staring right in my eyes. I jumped up and she just stood there.

JAY

She?

GEORGE

Yeah. It was a she. She had great big bozos.

(gesturing)

Out to here.

JAY

So what happened?

GEORGE

Nothing. I just froze.

(shaking his head)

I got to tell you man, I was way too scared to even move.

JAY

What did she do?

Kathy develops a weird smile as she continues to study Jay. Jay notices again and gives her a quick, faint smile and then looks back at George.

GEORGE

She just stood there looking at me. Looking me over. I didn’t know if she was gonna eat me, or.... or what...

(motions towards Bill)

Bill here was fishing with me. He was a few hundred feet back down the stream. Bout that time, he called out that he wasn’t getting any bites and wanted to go home.

(Bill nods in agreement)

She heard his voice, looked in his direction, and then she just turned and walked off.

JAY

(to Bill)

Did you see her?

BILL

Naw, but I saw George come running towards me.

(laughs)

He was scared as any rabbit I had ever seen!

GEORGE

I just got the hell out of there.

Jay again glances at Kathy, who is still studying him.

JAY

So what are the three of you going to do?

GEORGE

We are going to go back to where I saw her.... and find her again.

JAY

Where did you see her?

GEORGE

Right by the highway.

(pointing)

We stopped at the bridge over Green Snake Swamp River and walked, oh, less than half a mile down that stream to a big hole I been going to for years. Bill didn’t....

BILL

(interrupting)

I didn’t see no need in walking that far. I stopped at a good place.... least it looked like a good place.

JAY

(to George)

Just half a mile from the highway?

GEORGE

Yeah. About half a mile.

JAY

What are you going to do if you see her again?

GEORGE

We’re going to capture her. We got a tranquilizing gun.

(points to his SUV)

Want to see it?

JAY

No, that’s alright.

BILL

You want to joins us? We could use your expertise. Being a professor that teaches about old, extinct animals, I’d think you would be a big help in finding her.

JAY

(quickly studies the three of them)

Four would make a fairly large party.

(shakes head)

I think I may have a better chance of getting good photographs if I go alone.

(another glance to Kathy)

But I thank you for your offer.... I.... and I wish you the very best of luck.

KATHY

I wish you would change your mind. I think we would all be safer if we go together. You may get hurt out there all by yourself. If you do, you’ll need help.

(she studies him for a moment)

Jay shakes his head indicating a no.

Kathy tries another tactic.

KATHY

If we find her, I’m not sure we’ll know what to do. We have no.... expertise in such things. I wouldn’t want these guys to kill her. Would you?

JAY

(shakes his head)

No. No, I wouldn’t want her killed.

Kathy gives him her best smile.

JAY

Ah... I really do appreciate your offer, and I probably should take you up on it. But I am afraid that four people will make too much noise. We wouldn’t be able to get close. I think one person would have a better chance.

Kathy is very disappointed.

BILL

Well, good luck.

GEORGE

Yeah.

Jay nods his acknowledgement and waves his good byes and gets in his SUV as Kathy watches.

She waves a final, disappointed good-by.

Jay pulls his SUV onto the highway and heads towards the big swamp.

*******

Jay is driving down the highway at about fifty five miles per hour when the other party zooms past him. Kathy gives him a wave. A beer can comes sailing out their window.

Jay slows to let them get way ahead and out of sight.

After a while Jay comes to the bridge across Green Snake Swamp River. He slows and pulls over on the shoulder near the bridge and gets out. He sees the wheel marks of a truck going down the bank and into the brush along the stream.

He takes out his binoculars and climbs up on the bridge railing and looks down stream. He spots a possible off-road trail on the other side of the stream. He jumps down and gets in his SUV and drives across the bridge and down the off-road trail.

Jay parks his SUV under some trees and hops out. He looks around and quickly grabs his back pack and gear. He locks his SUV and walks into the swampy woods. He scans the ground as he walks, looking for any sign of his quarry.

He works his way down closer to the water. No signs.

Someone or something seems to be watching him. We see Jay in the something’s point of view through brush and trees.

Jay continues along the stream. Something is definitely stalking him. We can hear it breathing.

After a while he hears indistinct sounds from the brush in front of him, further down stream. He stops and listens. He cannot determine the sounds.

From its point of view, we see that the stalker is slowly approaching Jay. After a long moment, Jay carefully continues down stream.

The stalker hesitates. Now Jay can make out the source of the sounds. George and his party are drinking and laughing on the other side of the stream at the deep hole where George had seen the Bigfoot.

Jay works his way into some thick brush so he can pass the big hole without being seen by the partying hunters.

The stalker follows Jay into the dense brush. It’s getting very close to Jay.

BANG!

Jay jumps!

George has shot at a bird on the other side of the stream. A flock of birds scatter into the sky.

The stalker quickly moves back further into the dense brush. Jay continues upstream. Finally Jay has gone far enough upstream to be beyond the party noise. He begins his search along the stream bank again.

His trained eye sees many signs along the trail.

There! A footprint. A very big human-like footprint.

He looks around the swamp and listens. The swamp is filled with animal and insect sounds. He hears a sound behind him. He draws his hunting knife and twirls around. Nothing.

He looks around the area. He places his hunting knife in the footprint and films it. Suddenly the animal and insect sounds stop. Jay freezes.

He again surveys the area. Nothing.

It seems an eternity. Finally the animal and insect sounds return. Jay continues to study the area and even up in the trees. Nothing.

He resumes his search of the ground. He sees a pine cone from which something has eaten some of the seeds. He examines it closely and looks around some more.

He films the partially eaten cone, focusing on a bite mark. He places the partially eaten cone in a baggy and puts it in his backpack.

From its point of view, we see that the stalker or something is back watching him. He moves on down the game trail that runs along the stream. He comes to a wide spot with a small clearing. He carefully looks around.

The stalker watches him remove his back pack and take a seat with his back against a large cypress tree. He scans the area with his binoculars. The stalker begins to move up behind the tree where he is sitting. Jay doesn’t hear the stalker. He continues to scan the woods with his binoculars.

The swamp is alive with many birds and animals of all kinds. He carefully studies and begins to photograph some of them as they appear.

Then he sees a large hairy shape working its way through the near-by brush ahead of him. He almost loses his breath!

He aims his camera. It’s on the other side of some brush, but it is coming closer to him. He becomes a bit alarmed.

There, he sees its shape through the brush. It looks almost human. He photographs it. Apparently it hears the camera sounds and steps around the brush to get a better look.

It’s a bear. It stands on his hind legs to better see. It sniffs the air. He sees Jay.

Jay begins to get more frightened. He looks up the tree that he is leaning against. There are too few limbs low enough to climb.

He looks back at the bear. The bear drops to the ground and moves towards Jay.

Jay quickly jumps up and looks around at other near-by trees. Jay grabs his back pack and hurries to a tree with lower limbs.

The bear, now closer, stands up again to better see. Jay grabs a limb and begins to climb.

After he gets ten feet or so above the ground, Jay looks over at the bear. It’s gone! Jay frantically looks down at the bottom of the tree expecting to see the bear. Nothing.

Jay quickly begins to climb higher. Finally he finds a good perch site and carefully searches all the area between his position in the tree, the river and across the stream. There is no sign of the bear.
