Preface
Haiku is an interesting concept. It challengers writers who write verse, to condense their poems into seventeen syllables. Haiku originates from Japan. It was the idea of Masaoka Shiki at the end of the 19th century. The main concept of the Haiku is to divide the seventeen syllables into three lines. The first line should have five syllables, the second line seven, and the third line five syllables.
Kristina Howells has been experimenting with haiku verse since she was a supply teacher, teaching in Primary Schools, in and around London. She taught this concept to her year 6 students. She organised a competition within the class. After several years away from teaching, she has returned to create her first Haiku book, Haiku Moments.
