Think
back a few years.
Do you remember that big kid grabbing a small toy you were enjoying and holding it behind her back? She then put both hands behind her back and said "guess which hand it's in, right or left, and you can have it back."
Both of you knew it didn't matter which hand you choose - she would keep your toy in the other hand - and show the now empty hand you had picked.
It's happening again.
Big governments around the world have snatched your freedom and are saying "guess which political party will provide liberty and safety to your land, right or left, and you can be free of stealing, intrusive, arrogant government."
Pick your hand or party - it will be empty.
Freedom is cumulative. Your freedom increases with every expansion of freedom for others.

Mike
was amazed. He'd had something similar happen years ago, the
policeman had looked at his computer and said, “Yep, your
registration's paid, you'll want to go by the DMV and get a tag,
they'll invalidate the one that got lost in the mail.” This time
the cop didn't check his computer, “It doesn't matter if you put on
the sticker and someone stole it. I have to write a ticket and you'll
have to go to court and pay fees, and to the DMV and pay fees.”
The ticket had a charge, the DMV had a charge, but the amazing thing was the court. He plead innocent and showed his canceled receipt and current registration. Mike still had to pay the ticket, and there was a chart on the wall showing court expenses. Basically for each extra ten dollars in court costs fees had increased by hundreds of dollars.
Because he was a victim of theft, his state charged him most of a thousand dollars. He found out his state makes much more money from fees, fines, and penalties than it does from taxes, which are already too high. Peace keepers have gone past “protect and serve” to law enforcement, and on to money makers for the state. They seem to have become far less friendly and more threatening at the same time.
I could go on about how Mike complained of regulations that added costs to his business and other items that made it impossible to compete with similar businesses in other states. He told me those other business were closing too because they could not compete with out of country producers.
He left the country.
Mike had thought he would reopen his business in the new country where well educated people with families also needed good jobs. He visited several countries and talked to their leaders, they were eager to have him and talked of tax holidays or even permanent low taxes. The offers were best from where the government didn't get involved and he had the freedom to do what's right. He decided rather than manufacturing he would open a bar and restaurant on the beach.
That's where I meet Mike. He has on a brightly flowered shirt and cut-offs and is laughing loudly. He isn't drunk, he seems happy and relaxed instead. His attitude makes me want to talk to him.
He's proud of his little thatched hut. Behind the hut was a modest two story building he said was a sort of hotel. He has a room there, and a few other rooms if someone he likes needs a place to sleep. There were no regulations, he built it to suit his tastes. If someone doesn't like his tastes they can look elsewhere. He said once he had someone that refused to leave and refused to pay. Mike's neighbors formed a posse of a dozen or so men and moved the big slob out. He treated their families to a special party that night. No paperwork required, just a quiet civic action. He helps them when they need assistance, he's getting good working with thatch.
